What is the difference between solid-plate, ceramic and induction cookers?

Solid plates are strong, simple and often found on lower-priced cookers. Ceramic hobs have a smooth glass surface that is easier to wipe clean.

Induction hobs heat suitable pans directly. They can heat up quickly and give you precise control. However, induction models require compatible cookware.

Should I choose a 50cm or 60cm electric cooker?

The best size depends on your available kitchen space and cooking needs. A 50cm cooker has a narrower design and can be useful in smaller kitchens. A 60cm model usually offers a larger cooking area and more oven space.

Measure the width, height and depth of the space before ordering. You should also allow any clearance stated in the installation guide.

Do I need special pans for an induction electric cooker?

You will need pans with a magnetic base. Cast iron and many stainless steel pans will work, but aluminium, glass and copper pans may not unless they have a suitable induction base.

You can test a pan by placing a magnet against its base. If the magnet sticks firmly, the pan should normally work on an induction hob.

What warranty comes with a HomeWise electric cooker?

The warranty varies between products. Many of the Teknix electric cookers in the current collection include a two-year warranty. Some other models, including certain ex-display cookers, may have a 12-month warranty or different cover.

Always check the individual product page before ordering. Keep your receipt and follow any registration instructions supplied with the cooker.

How will my electric cooker be delivered?

HomeWise offers free economy delivery on most items and normally aims to deliver within three to five working days. The standard service is usually completed by a two-person team who will take the appliance into your property. An optional unpacking service may also be available.
